Okay, I have a question for all King James bible scholars. I am reading in the book of Job as part of my Chronological read thru the bible plan and ran across the word “unicorn” in Job 39:9. There are also about 8 other references to the word unicorn in the bible. In today’s world, unicorns are a mythical horse which appeals to children. But doing some research I found the bible actually calls rhinoceros as unicorns. Here is the link I went to for this. In this article and video that went with it it does say the King James Bible translated the word unicorn incorrectly. What do our King James bible scholars think? I guess there are both one horned and two horned type of rhinoceros’s. Any one care to comment? I think if children understood what a real unicorn is . . . a rhinoceros, rather than a pretty white horse, they wouldn’t like them as much and I do believe this is a new age version purposed to pull children in to magic and the occult.

My bible reference says Job 39:10 Unicorn. A horned animal with great strength. See Numbers 23:22, Unicorn. Evidently an extinct single horned animal. Deuteronomy 33:17; Psalm 22:21 The horns of the unicorns. These symbolize all the dangers from which God had delivered his Son before the Crucifixion ( see Matt. 2:16-18, for example). -
I looked up the origin of the myth of unicorns and I found out that it is Greek. The really ancient Greeks which are the . Mesopotamian. They are the origin of what we know about ancient Greek culture. The ones responsible for making the gods of Greece. Anyways do to the chaos that is recorded in Danial 11 I think, and God’s judgement on the Jews. They wound up all over the place. Which explains that they translated the OT in Greek which is called the Septuagint. in conclusion the word unicorn is a direct translation of the text they translated. Which in its defense would have been something that everyone at the time would have understood. -
The guy is simply wrong on that part of the article. (He does fine in the first half). The Hebrew word used in Deuteronomy is רם רים ראים ראם phonetically pronounced reh-ame. They translated it accurately.
